During the COVID-19 period NSW Health approached us to construct a new testing and vaccination facility within an empty space at Westmead Hospital. Due to the COVID-19 crisis and the immediate need for this facility there were no designs completed or any preparations taken to enable this project. On short notice we agreed to take it on as a design and construct project and together with our subcontractors we prepared a brief, drawings, provided samples and managed to start the works on site in record time.

Within a month we installed a new raised timber floor with a hospital grade vinyl floor finish on top, lined all walls with plasterboard and installed a new suspended ceiling grid and ceiling tiles. Additionally, we fitted the space with new electrical, mechanical, fire and security services in accordance with NSW Health requirements.

Finally, we created a new door opening and installed an automated glass sliding door to make this space easily accessible for the public.

All works were completed in a live hospital environment whilst constantly adhering to the NSW Health COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines.
